I have always been passionate about design and construction so when the stars aligned and presented the opportunity to start a business doing what I love I jumped in headfirst. Fast forward to over a decade of Scalish projects under my belt and I couldn’t be happier. Working with some of the most talented and energetic people in the industry helping the very best clients bring their dreams to fruition is all that I could have imagined.
When my husband Frank and I decided to start our own construction business, I was confident that my corporate experience managing retail stores, developing employees, and building business nationally through education and training would help lay the foundation on which Scalish Construction now stands.
Having worked in the industry for many years, on projects ranging from affordable housing to apartments and hotels, I am excited by the opportunity to lend my expertise to Scalish. The range of projects we undertake, with a focus on preserving history, communities, and earth’s resources, utilizes my skill set and aligns with my interests in a gratifying way.
I was drawn to Scalish by the variety and scope of the projects we take on as well as the overall company culture. I have continually been able to grow and learn while working at Scalish which is extremely rewarding.
I get a great sense of pride in how the Scalish presence has grown and continues to do so. We have a fleet of vehicles going to a variety of diverse, challenging, and impressive projects, and it’s great to have folks comment on seeing our signs around town. Oh yeah, and our office is going to be in a church. That’s pretty sweet!
I joined the Scalish Team shortly before completing my construction engineering certification and am really glad I did. The environment is friendly and welcoming, the projects are diverse and exciting, and every day at work is different. It’s awesome seeing the company grow. I’m happily along for the ride.
What drew me to Scalish was the strong sense of community and the ideals that we, as a team, are building towards. Having grown up in Lakewood, I have many friends who have made their homes and are raising families here. Being part of the growth and expansion of this community and the surrounding areas is extremely important to me.
Having the opportunity to work on historical preservation projects at Scalish was a big draw for me.
My favorite part of working at Scalish would be the people. Being young and having worked at a number of trade related businesses, I found out early on that most contractors don’t really like to “teach” what they are doing. The guys I work with at Scalish not only encourage questions, but they take time to show me what they are doing and how to do it. I feel like I’m learning much more apprenticing with them than I would have elsewhere.
What attracted me most to Scalish is their work with historic renovations and green construction. I find older buildings incredibly charming and love the idea of preserving their character but making them energy efficient and safer. It’s exciting to be working with people who actually do it!
